New Moon in Taurus – Comfort Rules

here's some of those May flowers!

The New Moon on May 5 is at 15 degrees Taurus, the midpoint between the two Scorpio Full Moons, making it less about new beginnings than most New Moons. This feels more like the time to evaluate progress and determine if we are doing business as usual or whether we have found better alternatives because if we haven’t, we need to. The atmosphere is conducive to transforming what is no longer viable with a certain degree of grace.

Venus moved into Taurus, where she is supremely comfortable, on April 30 and is still within orb of the grand trine in earth with Pluto and Saturn. For those of us who have been dealing with less pleasant Saturn and Pluto transits, the presence of a happy Venus will sooth the worst of the hurts for now. This especially favors those with lots of Libra and Taurus in their charts . . . Yay!

The Jupiter/Uranus sextile is still operating, and once Jupiter turns retrograde on May 9, the aspect will tighten again. Both of these planets interact favorably with the Taurus New Moon, supporting innovations for various business ventures out there. Jupiter will station at 22° 22′ Capricorn and will provide an opportunity to review what we’ve done since February this year. In numerology, 22 is the number of the master builder of the universe. Combine that with Capricorn’s ability to plan and execute and we have a great opportunity to lay some serious groundwork for where we want to go next.

Another event happening May 9 is Mars finally moving into Leo!  After months and months in watery Cancer, Mars is going to be one happy camper to be back in a fire sign, and all you fire-sign folks out there are going to get a big hit of energy.

We do have to deal with the square between Mercury in Gemini and Saturn in Virgo, so the agile one will be still be feeling constrained, even though he moved out of methodical Taurus on May 2. Remember to allow extra time for handling communications.

Overall, this New Moon favors creative change, but in a far more tangible way. With Venus, Taurus’s ruler, dancing with Saturn and Pluto in earth, realistic planning and sensible creative solutions will carry the day. And if you have a chance to relax about now . . . Taurus says get a lovely massage with plenty of scented oils and quiet music. Oh yeah, don’t forget the chocolates and a glass of your favorite beverage, either.

I feel like I can’t even remember life before Mars in Cancer! Thank God for Venus this week…. her sign change was like a big, soft kiss. I have felt it all over my life and have really been drawing on that strength. It has been sorely needed! With all the amazing transits that have corresponded to major events and transformations in my life since last August 30th, the cardinal squares of the last month have created some of the greatest pressure. This Saturn station square my Moon makes it feel like something is breaking free at last.

I can’t figure out how to get on Astro Twitter with you all. I signed up for a Twitter account, but I have no idea how to add it to this site. When I click on the links here, it just loads a blank page.

Know what you mean, Jessica, about not being able to remember life before Mars in Cancer. :-D In fact, I’m ready for a little more Fire & Air in the sky period. We’ve been wading in the “mud” for awhile.

As to Twitter here . . . when Pat & I were setting it up on our sidebar, we ended up using Pat’s Astro-Twitter account. So if you wish to see your profile & comments on Astro-Twitter, please click on ‘Pat’ and choose than the “Following” option. Hopefully when she checks in, she will find your request and add you to her list of followers. At this point, we’re in the experimental stage with Twitter ourselves. :::grin:::

We’d love to have you on Astro-Twitter, Jessica! Please just send me a Twitter message letting me know your screen name, and I’ll add you to the list. Or you can do it the way Neith suggested. Either one will work. :-)

No big, soft kiss here. More like a big, stout kick. Glad you got some relief.

Interesting (as I wait for Saturn to get in gear to move. off. my. merc-pallas-venus-pluto. finally…) I notice that Jupiter will exactly square my nodal axis (22 degrees Libra north node in the 3rd). Not sure what affect it’s having, given all the other transits I have going on, but interesting to note.

    Hey leslee!
You will throw a party when Saturn leaves your stellium!!

Here’s a thought about Jupiter sq Nodal Axis. If Jupiter causes expansion/optimism, with your Nodal Axis in the 3rd/9th and Jupiter in the 6th, look for creative ways to change your usual routines/approaches to problem solving/maybe a move?! I know when Uranus sq my Nodal Axis, I moved into cyberspace and the astro-blogosphere big time.

Oh, I just think it’s because Venus rules my Sun, Mercury, and Pluto and when she pops up, I feel like I have someone in my corner. Plenty of tough love, though. I went through a break-up this week, or shall we say, relationship restructuring…. but Venus was there to make me feel better about myself.

Alright, I’ll give Astro Twitter another shot!

Ah a massage, wish someone massaged me, without having to pay for it, obviously lol

Great tips about today’s New Moon, Neith. I’m starting something body-related now. Cosmetic related, so to speak. I think it’s the right time.

The twitter addition to the site is very interesting!

Oh a massage. I want a massage. I want a massage. Thank you for the reminder

Being really ground down by the Saturn sq nat Sun and the Mars transit in Cancer (my 10th). Work isn’t fun right now.

Neith, yes, I think I will throw a party when Saturn leaves my stellium, and again when he sails right out of my 1st house in September! I hear that you get renewed energy when he leaves the 1st, and stop feeling/looking so old. We’ll see. :-)

As for Jupiter square my nodes, will see. I will have to move this summer (July), so maybe it’ll help me find my new apartment. Interestingly, the transiting nodes will conjunct my Ascendant/Descendant axis from July-September (North node on my Descendant). Curious to see what that will bring, too.

LOL! relationship restructuring! good one!! Sometimes we need to re-establish equity in our relationships [Libra totally gets equity].

See you figured out Twitter! Knew you could . . . :-D

Thanks!! And Venus transiting your 1st and opposing your natal Venus is a great time for cosmetic related. [just noted on neithnet blog got a great haircut when Venus was exactly opposing my Sun]

LOL, mm! Yes, sounds like the perfect time for you to have a massage done. With your Mars in Taurus, massage can be deeply beneficial for you.

Anyone with planets/angles on the very early degrees of mutable signs is sooooo tired of Saturn! We are collectively going “Move, move, move”!!

    Hi leslee!

Having Saturn move out the 1st will be wonderful [especially when he moves past your Sun too]. It occurred to me a Saturn transit can be like training with ankle weights – when they’re gone, you feel so much lighter and stronger.

As for Jupiter square my nodes, will see. I will have to move this summer (July), so maybe it’ll help me find my new apartment. Do you think this will bring to the surface issues surrounding how you feel about being in partnerships? With your natal NN in Libra, this is an important area for you. I continue to believe how we view ourselves in one-on-one relationships very much affects those.

heh, my NN in Gemini falls in my 7th & SN in the 1st
[Libra Sun/Moon] so I’ve given this whole matter some thought too . . . :-D

That’s great. Perfect image. As for Saturn hitting my Sun, I’m thinking that at least it never stations directly on it (the station is 3 degrees away, still in range of course). Uranus will be stationing opposite my Sun, so I may be happy to have Saturn on hand to stabilize things. Sigh. And Jupiter will be giving me a nice trine at the same time. (Picturing myself pulled in all directions like Play-Doh.)

As for the partnership stuff, I would think bringing those things to bear would be indicated. But all these transits are taking place while I’m not in a partnership, so it’s curious. Saturn transiting my Venus, Chiron return on my Descendant, nodes on my Asc/Desc axis (and hitting Chiron and natal Moon)… I am thinking about it a lot. I think some balancing is going on for now…

Oh, duh, when Saturn hits my Sun it will also square natal Saturn. When it rains it pours. In another year or so things should ease up!

For those of us with stelliums, we tend to get our ‘big’ transits out of the way all at once. did we really pick this option?! :-D

But all these transits are taking place while I’m not in a partnership, so it’s curious.

This was my experience too and it was after processing the transits, I found a great partner for me. This is one reason I really believe the key to finding the “right” one is figuring out our personal issues first . . .

For the next year, it’s size the moment when Saturn’s moved past and before he comes back . . . Saturn sq Saturn is not so heavy as him sitting on your Sun. And it’s the waxing transit we feel the most in my experience.

Thanks, Neith! Yes, bunched charts – certainly concentrates the energy. :-) Good to hear about your partnership experience – hope I’m so lucky. Next year Pluto will trine my Venus/Pluto, so that may be good timing. :-D

Also, I will try to make the most of the forward motion of Saturn! Thanks for the tip. Saturn will make some nice sextiles of my progressed planets on the way this summer, including my natal IC and progressed Sun at 7 Scorp. He should sextile your Scorpio planets, too. I see Uranus is exactly square your natal Uranus – hope that’s going well!
