There’s a saying, “The truth hurts.” It also can be a powerful healer.

This week’s Full Moon in Gemini emphasizes healing through words, particularly those that convey the truth. There can be a great release, a newfound freedom from a belief that has weighed on the soul and dampened the spirit. If there’s any pain involved, it’s the shattering of a delusion. Or, it could be the result of stubbornly hanging on. It takes energy to maintain an illusion.

Whether the truth initially leads to a release or a bad reaction, there is an awakening. This week’s awakenings are likely to be surprising, and while some of them no doubt will be personal, it’s time for a collective awakening as the truth dawns on many people at once. Continue reading

Gratitude is a wonderful thing in and of itself, but it also opens our hearts to abundance.

This week is Thanksgiving in the United States. How lovely it would be if giving thanks was the main purpose – if for nothing else, then for the lavish meal that’s traditionally served.

A few days ago, I saw this post on Facebook:

Black Friday: because only in America people trample each other for sales exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have.

Obviously, that’s the old version. It’s no longer “exactly one day,” but more like an hour or two. How did we get to the point where the mad rush to buy stuff starts on Thursday Continue reading

This week, the Sun leaves the murky territory of Scorpio and enters jovial Sagittarius. But I’m not breaking out the champagne.

Sagittarius is known as the sign of the truth-seeker, which sounds noble enough. The problem, as I see it, is that when we look for truth – often with a capital “T” – what we really want is validation for our beliefs. It’s amazing how the mind can bend and twist with the deftness of a circus contortionist to fit reality to its preconceived notions. I’ve often found that there’s more truth hiding in the shadowy depths. Continue reading

The tension builds again this week, and duties and obligations must be met. In short, it’s not chill.

However, those who value hard work, commitment, and integrity will find that events this week have their own rewards, and confronting difficult situations head on could be quite productive. Moreover, there are subtle energies at work this week that could manifest as sudden flashes of inspiration, intuition, and insight. Continue reading

In 1997, I sold everything I owned, found good homes for my two cats, and went to France to write a novel.

The novel never got done (a story in itself, for another time), but the experience changed my life. One of the most important lessons I learned was that it’s actually possible to feel richer than the queen of England and not spend a cent. My record, as I recall, was an entire week. Not one centime.

When I made the leap, I was living in California. I intended to stay in France for three months – long enough to get a good feel for the location of my story – but I ended up going back and forth for several years. Continue reading
