Weekly Forecast December 29: Sun Conjunct Pluto, Full Moon in Cancer

As 2013 drew to a close, many people were saying, “Good riddance.” I was sorry to have to respond with, “Careful what you wish for,” and a warning that 2014 wasn’t going to be a picnic.

I don’t know that I’d advise breaking out the wicker and gingham just yet.
There’s still plenty of drama on the horizon, along with continuing chaos on many fronts. Overall, though, we’re going to see a shift in the year ahead. We’ve identified undeniable patterns, we know what needs to change, and we know what hasn’t been effective in bringing about those changes. The tension builds again this week, and duties and obligations must be met. In short, it’s not chill.

However, those who value hard work, commitment, and integrity will find that events this week have their own rewards, and confronting difficult situations head on could be quite productive. It often happens that we’re surprised by events, when, looking back, the signs were there all along.

I could say that that’s one of the major themes of my life. There have been many instances, especially in my younger years, when simply paying attention could have saved me a lot of grief. But then, it’s not always that simple, is it?

There is so much noise from outside that it can drown out our intuition, which in any case is ridiculed as inferior to rational thinking. We are taught not to trust what’s in our hearts. Well, as I’ve said before, the heart is the seat of the mind; the brain is just a tool. Continue reading →

There are a few major shifts this week that should produce a more balanced perspective and acceptance of things as they are, which can help reduce anxiety.

In world affairs, there’s a renewed emphasis on negotiations for peace, although the most important developments will take place out of the public eye and may bear little resemblance to what’s being reported in the media. Military operations will be covert or, at the very least, called something other than what they are. More about that in a minute.

On Monday, Pluto comes out of retrograde less than two hours before the Sun enters Libra – in astrological terms, the Libra ingress. Then on Wednesday (late Tuesday in western time zones), we have the New Moon at 1 degree Libra. Continue reading →

We’re still in the pull of strong undercurrents, but surface tension eases up in the first part of this week, allowing us to catch our breath and maybe even do a little strategic planning.

Last week, a neighbor asked how many hours a day I spend at the computer. “A lot,” was my answer.

I explained to him that analyzing charts and writing reports for clients is a big part of my job, but that writing the weekly forecast has been incredibly time-consuming lately due to the magnitude of world events. Weekly Forecast July 21: New Moon in Leo, Mars Enters Scorpio

Last week’s planetary shifting left many of us feeling “off-kilter,” as one friend put it. I’d like to say that we’ll get back “on-kilter” this week, but despite some favorable astrological events on the way, we’re in limbo for a bit longer.

In the tradition of delivering the bad news first, the station of Saturn and Uranus, and at a difficult angle with one another, continues to be a major influence for a few more weeks. Saturn returns direct today (Sunday, July 20), and Uranus turns retrograde on Monday.

Weekly Forecast July 14: Jupiter Enters Leo, Saturn Direct

There’s a whole lotta shiftin’ going on in the sky this week, with Jupiter entering a new sign and two outer planets stationed, one turning direct and the other about to go retrograde.

On Wednesday, Jupiter leaves tender, cautious Cancer and heads into dramatic, exuberant Leo. In principle, that sounds good, and I think it will be. We could use a good dose of optimism. At the same time, Saturn is stationed at 16 degrees Scorpio, in preparation to return direct on Sunday (July 20), while Uranus is stationed at 16 degrees Aries and will turn retrograde the following day.

Weekly Forecast June 30: Mercury Direct, Sun Opposite Pluto

No one will be happier than I when Mercury turns direct this week. Tuesday. At precisely 5:49:55 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time.

I have no idea why this Mercury retrograde period hit me so hard, and not even in the way it “should” have, according to where it is transiting my birth chart. Then, with Mercury in his own sign of Gemini, all things related to communications, including blogs, are subject to disruption. Posting this forecast has been a nightmare.

I just read Ray Merriman’s weekly column and saw that he is scratching his head over this one, too. I feel a little better knowing that one of the world’s most experienced and respected astrologers couldn’t make any more sense of it than I could. Weekly Forecast June 23: Mars Opposite Uranus, New Moon in Cancer

It has been a crazy week. Mercury’s return to Gemini seems to have brought resolution to several issues I was having, but now I’ve fallen way behind in my work, another common occurrence when the Messenger is in reverse mode.

It took the better part of the week to troubleshoot my Internet connection, which has been working properly for three days but is showing signs of instability. This is totally not funny. The rug situation, however, continued to get more and more ridiculous. If I wrote a sitcom based on this transaction, the producers would criticize it as too contrived. There is no way I could make this stuff up.

I’m hoping the trend of resolving issues will continue so that I can get caught up. Continue reading →
