Venus 2012: The Apocalypse and the Power of Love

“The end is nigh…” as the soothsayer would say! But the end of what?

It could well be the end of all suffering, for this is also the dawning of the Age of Aquarius where “Peace shall guide the planets, and Love will steer the stars,” as the song said.

Apocalypse is the word often used to describe the “end of days,” but, leaving Hollywood-style disaster movies aside, what does this actually mean? The word apocalypse means “lifting the veil,” or revelation of truth.

So what “truth” will be revealed? The ultimate truth: the truth of our being, our true power and our own true nature.

At a fundamental level, as human beings, we are all the same; each one of us aspires to happiness and each one of us does not wish to suffer. This is why, whenever I have the opportunity, I try to draw people’s attention to what as members of the human family we have in common and the deeply interconnected nature of our existence and welfare. ~ HH Dalai Lama

Is there anything in Esoteric Astrology that could hint at 2012 as heralding an apocalyptic Age of Truth and Revelation? There could be … especially if we look at the esoteric rulers of the signs and planets.

On June 5 or 6, 2012 (depending where you are in the world), Venus will cross the face of the Sun in Gemini. This phenomenon, known as an “occultation,” completes a Venus transit that began in 2004. This happens once every 120 years or so, but isn’t it interesting that it is also happening in 2012? What I find interesting is that Venus is also the Esoteric or Soul Ruler of Gemini, lifting Gemini to its highest Soul purpose of “teaching Right Human Relations, between self and others, personality and soul, anima and animus, higher mind and lower mind.” [1]

The Soul purpose of Gemini is directly linked to resolving the duality between the head and the heart, bridging the gap, and accessing the heart-mind.[2]

This is a powerful opportunity for a global heart-opening, and astrologically could be the biggest event of the year in terms of human experience and spiritual awakening. Whatever happens during this period, it is important not to get caught up in fear, but to stay focused on the highest love for one another and for all Beings. This is the message of the Gemini Soul: the power of transpersonal love.

During this time, there will be waves of high energy flooding our planet that will be detectable by those who are perceptive enough. It is important to remember that even if you can’t feel it, you’ll still be in the energy. Stay focused on your Heart Center, and be open. There is certainly enormous potential to experience deep heart-centered connection.

Mercury, Gemini’s personality ruler, is also associated with the development of the “Antahkarana”’ or “Rainbow Bridge,” which, once fully formed, allows access to higher consciousness and higher mind. With these major influences and energies around, there is indeed the potential for another big shift in awareness on the planet on the scale of a quantum leap as the human population shifts from lower mind and ego-centeredness to Higher Mind and Heart-Centeredness.

[callout]With the Venus in Gemini occultation on June 5-6, 2012, there will be, at one and the same time, enormous potential for both a global shift to Higher Consciousness and a mass heart-opening.[/callout]

Will we all experience Divine Bliss and a “Summer of Love” in 2012? Not necessarily, although that could definitely be an experience for many. During past Venus transits, there has also been a history of turbulence and strife. This makes sense from an energetic perspective; in such high-vibrational environments, that which is not Love will come up for healing. For many, it will be a purification in the sense that all our undealt-with personal demons may surface. If we are unable to face our own shadow with love, we can expect it will not be a smooth ride, but if we are able to accept all our imperfections and bring them into our hearts, there is huge potential for healing.

Typical of Gemini, this could very well be a dualistic experience, with many being swept along by mass consciousness, mob-rule, increasing rebellion, rioting, and violence, while those who have been pursuing their own individual spiritual path may find it to be a time of greater heart-opening and deepening of compassion. It is more important than ever, during the coming years, to follow your own heart and not be swept along by mass consciousness.

The power of the heart has been underestimated throughout human history. The power of Love has been thought of as a woo-woo idea, not to be taken seriously. Yet as we approach these turbulent times, it is precisely the power of Love that could be our saving grace.

Researchers discovered that when a major event affects human emotions on a worldwide scale, such as 9/11 or the death of Princess Diana, this actually changed the magnetic field of our planet.2 They discovered the power of the human heart to change the world. From this information, the Global Coherence Initiative [3] was founded, to teach us how to “harmonize”’ our heart-waves and bring positive change to the world.

Are you hearing echoes of that song again: … and Love will steer the stars?

What if we are only just discovering the tip of the iceberg in terms of the power of love? What if pure, focused, directed heart-energy really does have the power to “steer the stars?” As we move into an era of conscious choice and evolution, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that we actually do steer our own destiny, so indeed why not the stars? What we think and feel matters. Where we choose to focus our attention and how we choose to flow our energy at this critical juncture is highly significant.

Then maybe any potential apocalyptic disasters could be averted by our coming together in heart coherence, stabilizing the weather and climate on this planet. The very fact that we are discovering our own heart power now, at this point in our evolution, could be an early indicator of what we may expect during the coming Aquarian Age of Revelation.

Ask Real Astrologers: Flopped at Sales, What Else Can I Do?

Looking for AnswersThis week’s question comes from Jamil in the United Arab Emirates:

I just finished my MBA degree and completed four years in a sales executive career. I was not that successful during it, but because I have built my experience in sales (chemical materials), I am forced to continue in this business. In fact, I am finding that I do not have the sales personality … I want to know what type of career would suit my personality and that I would be creative in.

Jamil, the problem may be in what you are selling and for whom.

Now, before I explain further, I need to mention that your birth time is important in career counseling, and you don’t know yours for sure. The range you provided me makes you either a late Rising Leo or a Rising Virgo. I cast a chart using the average, but it would be better for you to try to get an exact birth time and an in-depth career reading to get the best answer to your question. If your birth time is not available anywhere, you can get what’s called a chart rectification. Using significant events in your life, an astrologer can do an analysis to come up with the likeliest birth time, and then you can test it over time.

For the time being, we’ll assume you have Virgo Rising. Your Sun is in Gemini, and your Moon is in Pisces. Mercury ruled Gemini is a natural salesperson, and with Mercury as your chart ruler, you are heavily influenced by the planet of commerce and business negotiations. In addition, your Pisces Moon allows you to read people intuitively. You know what they want and how to convince them that they want it from you!

However, unless you’re a Rising Leo, you probably don’t want to be an executive but would rather be out on the road, dealing directly with customers. Or, you might consider the marketing angle of sales, which requires Gemini’s great communications skills. Marketing can be a highly creative career.

We also want to look at the sign and house position of your chart ruler, Mercury, which was in Taurus at the time you were born. Instead of chemicals, perhaps you’d enjoy selling organic fertilizers or chemical ingredients for brewing beer (just a thought!).

In any case, with Moon in Pisces, you need to believe in what you’re selling. I would suggest doing some research (something you’re very good at) to find products and services that you believe in and that you believe will help humanity. Virgo tends to be very health-conscious, so if the chemicals you’ve been selling are harmful either to the environment or to human health, you will naturally not feel good about what you’re doing. You might even have sabotaged your career by deliberately not being good at it.

The purpose of this column is to provide quick answers, and that’s what this is. I hope it helps at least a little, but I also strongly recommend that you get a complete workup with a professional astrologer to help you sort out your career dilemma before it goes any further.

Thank you so much for writing, Jamil, and I wish you all the best for finding just the right career match for you.

Weekly Forecast May 18: New Moon in Gemini

Tiger TwinsThis week is about communications, whether looking backwards or forward, at the big picture or the trivial, the spiritual or the mundane. It could come as a flood of words or deafening silence that tells you everything you need to know.

If that sounds a little schizophrenic … well, we may indeed feel that way, with Mercury still retrograde, Saturn direct after several months retrograde in one of the signs Mercury rules, and a New Moon in the other sign of the Messenger. With that kind of energy filling our airwaves, mixed messages may seem like the goddess-honest truth and vice versa.

Still, Gemini is one of the more enthusiastic and dynamic signs, and with the Sun entering Gemini on Wednesday (Mercury’s day) and the New Moon on Sunday, we won’t remain stuck in the ruts that Mercury retrograde in Taurus might otherwise suggest. That said, it may be one step forward, two steps back for the next couple of weeks. If you’re an impatient type, that may be preferable to no action at all.

On Monday, the Sun conjoins Mercury, setting the tone for the rest of the week. On Wednesday, right as the Sun is entering Gemini, Mercury squares what Neith affectionately refers to as “Neptune & Co.” Since he’s working his way backwards, he starts with Neptune, then squares Chiron 12 hours later, and then a few hours later squares Jupiter. He tops it all off by forming a sextile to Uranus, which should create a noticeable buzz. Let’s just hope it doesn’t sound like a dentist’s drill.

Jupiter himself is approaching conjunction with Neptune, but that’s not until next week. This week, on Saturday, he conjoins Chiron. Wednesday’s square from retrograde Mercury provides the set-up for an unprecedented healing opportunity. We are healing deep wounds that may go back to early childhood and perhaps even farther. Many of us have been receiving messages in many forms about what this healing involves. It’s not the same for everyone, although the recurring theme I’m seeing most is a healing of the split between male and female energies. Regardless of your gender preference, you may start to see deep changes in your relationships. Some unions will become closer and more fulfilling, while those that have outlived their purpose will dissolve. If this happens, let go and put out a conscious intent to clear that space for something new and better.

The week closes with the New Moon on Sunday, May 24, at 3 degrees Gemini. This is close to the degree at which Mercury went retrograde, and Mercury rules this New Moon, so while we generally expect new beginnings at the New Moon, positive developments may be delayed, and our patience may be tried. I also see a possibility that we will think we’ve lost something, or something may happen that causes us to give up hope, but that this will be a cover for new energy attempting to manifest into your material reality. Anytime we are in healing mode, there’s a certain amount of internal confusion, and this can temporarily distort our vision.

Check back on Tuesday or Wednesday for Neith’s New Moon report.

Wishing you all courageous hearts and much love,
Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

Ask Real Astrologers: Square Sun signs that work

This week’s question comes from Katie in San Rafael, CA:

I’m a Gemini and my husband is a Pisces. We’ve been married for 15 years (second marriage for both of us) and I consider him my best friend. But according to astrology, we shouldn’t even get along. I had a reading a long time ago, and the astrologer was so accurate it was scary. But astrology is totally inaccurate in terms of my own personal experience in my relationship. Can you explain this?

Libra ponders . . .

Neith’s response:

Katie, this is a good example of why Sun sign astrology can be misleading when it comes to relationships. Your Pisces husband has his Moon in Sagittarius, which is very harmonious with your Gemini Sun. In addition, your Moon in fiery Leo is quite happy relating to his Moon in Sagittarius, creating an atmosphere of emotional understanding and making it much easier to synchronize your daily routines.

He has Sagittarius as his Rising sign, placing Gemini on the cusp of the seventh house of partnerships and the same sign as your Sun. Another plus is your Mercury in Gemini conjunct his Descendant, and that is good for communications. This aspect is strengthened because Mercury is Gemini’s ruler.

Your Ascendant in Cancer and his Pisces Sun are in a favorable trine, adding another positive tie between your charts. A parallel working for this relationship is him having his Sun in a mutable sign and located in his third house, so it operates much more like your Gemini Sun, suggesting you two have lots to talk about.

Enjoy your lively relationship!

Aquarius expounds . . .

Pat’s response:

I couldn’t agree more with Neith and would like to emphasize the limitations of Sun sign astrology when it comes to compatibility in intimate relationships. There is so much more to it.

In addition to Neith’s analysis, I’d like to add that your Venus is in a very close sextile to your husband’s Mars, indicating a dynamic sexual attraction. I have yet to find a couple that has been together for many years that doesn’t have this “glue” to hold their relationship together.

Of course, this also means that his Mars is almost directly opposite your Moon. Moon-Mars aspects typically indicate powerful sexual chemistry, but when they’re in opposition, there may be some tension surrounding intimacy. Still, tension is not always a bad thing and can be great for your sex life.

Lastly, I’d like to note that your Sun is in the first degree of Gemini, while your husband’s Sun is in the last degree of Pisces. In other words, he’s almost an Aries. In fact, your Sun signs don’t conflict at all but actually are in a positive, harmonious relationship.

Thanks for writing, and best wishes to you both.

Weekly Forecast June 9: Pluto Back in Sagittarius, Friday the 13th

Twin Geminis Ashley and Mary-Kate OlsenI’m feeling all jumbled up, and I’m getting reports that others are, too. It’s hard to maintain our balance when planetary energies are this chaotic.

The week starts out well enough, with Venus conjunct the Sun in Gemini. We feel the love and want to express it, but with Mercury retrograde, our attempts may be clumsy at best. At worst, they backfire, and the person on the receiving end may hear something quite different from what we intended.

The Moon in nitpicky Virgo won’t help. “You could stand to lose a few pounds, but I love you anyway” and similar backhanded compliments obviously aren’t going to go over very well. Resist the urge to be critical, and instead channel that Virgo attention to detail into getting your work week off to an organized start. You’ll be glad you did, especially if you’re on an emotional roller coaster.

Mercury just passed the halfway point through his retrograde cycle and, as Jeff Kishner noted on Astro-Twitter, it’s getting “suckier” by the day. Speaking of which, Twitter appears to have fixed everything but the flash badge, and we can’t get Astro-Twitter back up without it. I can still see your twitters, though, so go ahead and post. Ironically, Neith and I figured out that Twitter was launched during Mercury retrograde. No wonder they’re experiencing so many technical difficulties.

The Chiron/North Node/Neptune conjunction remains active, and this week it will be triggered by planets in Gemini. Self-image and ego both get a boost on Tuesday and Wednesday, when Venus and then the Sun trine Chiron. On Friday and Saturday, Venus and the Sun trine Neptune. Merging with a romantic partner is a powerful experience, and it will be even more positive if we go in with a good sense of who we are.

Friday is the 13th, of course, which is a little eerie, but only because we’re programmed that way. Friday is named for Venus – Freya in the Norse mythology for which our days of the week are named, and the number 13 was sacred in ancient Earth religions. Somehow, we’ve got to retrain ourselves to think of this day as exceptionally lucky!

Also on Friday, Pluto returns to Sagittarius, where he’ll stay until November 26. This is the biggest news of the week. Most people won’t feel this transit individually, but we’ll see the effects on a social and political level. Pluto’s entry into Capricorn in January brought some bad news, especially in global financial markets, and so we should get a brief reprieve, just in time for summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Neith and I both will be writing more about this on our blogs, Neith.net and The Pisces Chronicles.

Sunday is Father’s Day, and there is an intense buildup of energy as Mars conjoins the lunar South Node, exactly opposite Chiron and Neptune on the North Node. Mars rules cutting implements and surgery, and he also represents the universal masculine. Individually and collectively, it’s time to open up old wounds that are deeply embedded in our psyches and to allow toxic energy to drain out. Healing “father issues” could be a common theme.

I’ll have an in-depth post about this on PiChron in a few days for anyone who’s interested. Meanwhile, remember to breathe, and give yourself all the space you need to heal. If you need extra rest, take it and don’t agonize over what’s not getting done. It’ll still be there next week.

Love and blessings,
Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

Real Astrologers Weekly Poll: Rate Your Gemini Friends

Since the Sun is Gemini, we thought we’d do this week’s poll on how you get along with the Twins. Do you find them adorable and entertaining, or do they drive you nuts?

Opinion Polls & Market Research

We’d love to know whether your Sun sign or Rising sign influences your feelings toward your Gemini brothers and sisters, so feel free to leave a comment!

Results of Last Week’s Poll

In last week’s poll, we wanted to know how into astrology you are. Here are the results:

30.4% answered “Totally; I’m an astrologer.”
17.4% answered “I can’t start the day without my horoscope.”
47.8% answered “The astro-blogosphere is my favorite hangout.”
4.3% answered “I think I had my chart done once.”
No one asked, “It’s good for laughs.”
No one answered “All of the above.”
(That was just Neith’s idea of a joke, anyway!)

Once again, we’re delighted to find that our readership is so knowledgeable about astrology. But we were surprised to find out how many other astrologers visit our site.

Nearly half of you are no strangers to the astro-blogosphere. Then, Neith and I have hosted blogs for more than two years, and many of you migrated over from Neith.net and Neith on Synastry – both of which appeal to a knowledgeable readership – and The Pisces Chronicles, which has assembled an extraordinary community of consciously aware human beings (in my admittedly biased opinion).

Still, RealAstrologers.com is expanding in its own right as more and more people around the world discover our unique site. Tomorrow is our two-month anniversary. In that short period, we’ve had well over 11,000 page views, with readers in 58 countries on six continents. Within the United States, our readership is distributed across the entire country, with visitors from 40 states plus the District of Columbia. Neith attributes this to the Sagittarius Ascendant in our composite chart. (Sagittarius is the explorer and world traveler.)

Thank you all for being part of our lives. Please help us grow by spreading the word. And send us your feedback! We’d love to hear from you.

Love and blessings,
Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

Weekly Forecast June 1: New Moon with Mercury Retrograde

Mercury enters his second week of retrograde motion this week as we head into a new lunar cycle.

The New Moon on Tuesday falls at 13 degrees Gemini, just a degree from the point at which Mercury will return direct on June 19. Since Mercury rules this New Moon, you may have to wait a couple of weeks to see any real effects. By then, the Moon will be full and conjunct the Galactic Core, no less. Unfortunately, knowing that positive changes are on the way may not help you keep your cool, as Gemini isn’t known for patience.

It does, however, like to be entertained, so deal with your frustrations by seeing a good movie. Go for a light and fluffy romantic comedy – better still if you own it and won’t have to stand in line or risk a late fee because something unexpected comes up that prevents you from getting the DVD back to the video store on time.

For more on the New Moon, check out the excellent analysis that Neith posted on Saturday.

Meanwhile, I’m hearing about healing crises of all kinds this week, a manifestation of the triple retrograde of Chiron, Mercury, and Neptune. This is powerful medicine, and it tastes awful. You can read more about it in my new post on The Pisces Chronicles.

Venus, Mercury and Cupid

As for Mercury, the little bugger, he’s wreaking havoc in classic retrograde style. Twitter is overloaded, my replacement ATM card didn’t arrive before the old one expired, the bank’s customer service line wasn’t answering, and my last paycheck from my old job got sent to the wrong place. Paperwork for my new job is stuck in bureaucratic purgatory. The ferry system is down yet another boat, so there will be long lines to get off the south end of Vashon for the next two weeks.

There will be plenty more where that came from, so do keep in mind my usual Mercury retrograde caveats: give yourself extra time to travel and accomplish tasks, be prepared to get put on hold and wait in line, keep a close watch on keys and credit cards, and be clear in all of your communications. If there’s a mix-up, don’t bother trying to figure out who’s to blame. Forgive, forget, and move on.

We’ll get some help with the latter courtesy of Venus. On Friday, she forms a snappy sextile with Mars. Sparks ignite when the universal feminine contacts the universal masculine. Whether you’ve got your eye on someone or are single and looking, check out where these two are in your chart. The Sun sextiles Mars mid-week, giving us an energy boost and getting Mars in the mood for his hot date.

Both the Sun and Mercury will conjoin Venus this weekend, providing small opportunities to clear the static and get a good connection. This also would be an ideal time to say “I’m sorry.” It’s amazing how far those two little words will go, and they don’t cost a thing.

Love and blessings,
Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

New Moon in Gemini, June 3

waning crescent moonThis New Moon features a nice stellium of Venus, Moon, Sun and Mercury from 12 to 19 degrees Gemini. In general, this is a quieter lunation than some we’ve had so far this year. Usually Gemini is more outgoing, but with Mercury in its retrograde phase, the overall tone is more contemplative than usual. Venus closely conjoining the Sun and Moon adds to the softer note, too.

That said, Gemini corresponds to the third house, and all third-house pursuits are going to be favored, from spending time with friends and siblings to hanging out at the local hotspots. Be sure to double-check all of your meeting times and places, due to the Mercury retrograde effect, and be prepared for delays and long waits! If you are traveling with children, don’t forget to take their favorite games, books and toys to keep them amused.

As the New Moon peaks, the luminaries and Venus are moving into a tighter square with Uranus, so we can expect the more erratic side of Gemini to emerge over the week to 10 days following the New Moon. Anyone with planets or chart angles from 19 to 22 degrees of the mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces) can look forward to the finger-in-the-light-socket effect of Uranus. All plans will be subject to change without notice . . .

There is one notable aspect to the Gemini stellium, an energizing sextile from Mars in Leo. If you keep in mind the importance of thinking before speaking, this aspect is very good for expressing warmth and caring with candor. It’s also geat for good times in the neighborhood. Mars in Leo is adept at finding the nearest party to be the life of.

An interesting aspect in this chart is the trine between Neptune in Aquarius and Ceres in Gemini. A good way to demonstrate the compassion of Neptune is to practice kindness to all. Ceres in Gemini always has a kind word or three to offer and is good at thinking up many different ways to express them. Because trines don’t demand our attention like squares, we need to consciously take advantage of this gentle, caring aspect. Besides, this Libra person says it never hurts to use honey instead of vinegar, and the Gemini stellium with Venus repeats this message!

Use the next couple of weeks wisely, because we have a very powerful Full Moon in Sagittarius coming on June 18, with Pluto back in Sagittarius conjoining the Moon. Check back for the next installment.

**It’s that time again! New Moon Abundance Checks!

Weekly Forecast May 26-June 1: Mercury Retrograde!

I probably don’t need to tell you that this is going to be a strange week, as you’re no doubt feeling it already.

The biggest news, of course, is Mercury’s turn retrograde on Monday. The Messenger stations at 21°32″ Gemini and eventually will work his way back to 12°58″ Gemini before returning direct on June 19.

Because Mercury is in his own sign of Gemini, we can expect all the classic effects of this event, including communications mix-ups, missed connections, computer crashes, traffic jams, lost luggage, and delays in general. We’ve experienced a lot of this already since the shadow period began on May 11.

Chiron and Achilles

The wild card that may cause this Mercury retrograde to behave differently is Neptune’s turn retrograde less than half an hour later on Monday. While this configuration has the potential for complications and confusion, the two planets will be in a harmonious trine, which also creates the possibility for mental breakthroughs. This is especially true if you’ve been confronting a thorny problem that has resisted logical solutions.

Monday is a major U.S. holiday, signifying the beginning of summer. Hopefully, you get the day off, and hopefully you aren’t going anywhere due to high gasoline prices. With Mercury and Neptune both stopped in their tracks, staying home and relaxing would be the best use of your energy … if you can muster any at all. If you are traveling, expect delays. And be careful out there, OK?

We also have many readers around the world (49 50 53 countries on six continents at last count!) who will be going to work Monday morning with Mercury and Neptune stationed. Traffic may be at a dead stop, and possibly due to unusual circumstances. Leave a little early, and do whatever you need to do to manage your frustration level.

As if that’s not enough retrograde energy, Chiron also just went retrograde, at 21 degrees Aquarius. It’s always hard to say how multiple aspects like this will manifest, but I think it’s going to involve healing beliefs and thought patterns that no longer serve us. There also may be an element of healing old wounds and talking with others about past hurts between you. Normally, I wouldn’t recommend attempting this during Mercury retrograde periods, but a triple retrograde like this is incredibly rare and warrants trying something different.

The Moon conjoins Chiron and Neptune on Monday, so we’re going to get a full dose of this medicine, and the effects will continue strongly into Tuesday, when the Moon enters Neptune-ruled Pisces. As complicated as these intertwining energies are, there will be no mistaking how they’re manifesting in our lives, individually or collectively. The lunar North Node is sitting at 22 degrees Aquarius, between Chiron and Neptune, indicating an element of destiny to all of this. Be sure to leave comments with your experiences here so that we can all compare notes!

Also on Monday, Venus squares Saturn in the early degrees of Gemini and Virgo. This is going to be a tough week all around for romantic relationships, but if you’re willing to confront your issues directly, you’ll be rewarded eventually. You can’t expect to undo years of hurt in a day or two, and there is bound to be turbulence. As I’m so fond of saying, you can’t get to cruising altitude without it.

We’ll spend the rest of the week adjusting to this shift. Just remember to breathe.

Love and blessings,
Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

P.S. Normally I wouldn’t recommend getting a reading while Mercury is retrograde, but this week’s energies are extraordinary, so if you’ve been thinking about it, check out our exclusive forecasts and unique compatibility reports.

All Talk, No Action

Neptune, by Walter Crane

Mercury doesn’t go retrograde for another week, but you’d never know it. Many of you are reporting that it feels like the Messenger is in reverse already.

Sure feels like it to me. On Saturday, my bus into the city was late because the one before it had broken down. That meant twice as many riders, standing room only.

I’m expecting this week to be even worse as both Mercury and Neptune station in preparation to turn retrograde within less than half an hour of each other on May 26. What’s with these two, anyway? Back in January, Mercury turned retrograde tightly conjunct Neptune, and now here they are traveling backwards together. Should we suspect an astrological conspiracy? Or maybe they’re having a secret affair?

Whatever it is, it’s corresponding to a lot of confusion for many of us. And I’m dreading having to rely on the ferries this week.

The week begins with a powerful Full Moon in the last degree of Scorpio, which you already know if you read Neith’s superb analysis in the previous post. She wrote about letting go of what isn’t working for you – a painful process. With Venus squaring Neptune later on Monday, some of us will be hit over the head with the sudden recognition that we’ve been deluded by a romantic situation or perhaps by a material desire. Healing requires confronting the reality directly.

The Sun enters Gemini on Tuesday, which normally would create a buzz and signal an increase in communications. Mercury’s station is going to slow things down, though, so you may have the feeling of driving with the brakes on. Or, you might notice a lot of talk but no follow-through. You’ll fare best if you adjust your expectations accordingly.

On Wednesday, Jupiter sextiles Uranus, the second of a three-part aspect. Both planets will be at 22 degrees, the number of the master builder. I wrote about this in a post on Jupiter’s station retrograde. Spend some quiet time on Wednesday contemplating what isn’t working for you, and send out a mental request for solutions. Then write and tell us about how you got the answers!

Venus enters Gemini on Saturday, which will increase our desire to talk about relationships . . . or just to talk. I predict that online dating will soar, and boy, will it turn into a mess when Mercury goes retrograde! Mercury loves a good romantic comedy, so try to keep your sense of humor.

The Moon opposes Mars on Sunday, which normally wouldn’t be worth mentioning. However, with both Mercury and Neptune at a virtual standstill, there’s a high risk that small disagreements will escalate into major conflict due to misunderstandings. Resist the temptation to resort to the silent treatment or other passive-aggressive forms of communication that will only make matters worse. If you need to talk, wait a few days.
