Saturday Archives: When Will I Find Love?

Of all the posts I’ve written for my blog, The Pisces Chronicles, this one continues to get several hits a week. And with a powerful solar eclipse coming up this week in my seventh house of relationships, it’s a topic that is foremost in my mind.

When we’re talking among ourselves, astrologers often lament that the question we get most often is, “When will I find love?” or the even lower version, “Will he come back to me?”

Well, I just love it when people ask about love, no matter what version of the question they ask!

There’s no greater treasure in life than true love. It’s what we’re here for, and it’s what we all want, in our deepest heart of hearts. When you get right down to it, what else is there? That so many people are asking about it – even in what we consider to be an “unenlightened” way – is very encouraging.

It means they have started down the path.

I’m going to digress for a minute and talk about the Hollywood movie plot. In the mid-1990s, Chris Vogler circulated a paper at his studio about how the journey of the mythical hero could be incorporated into scripts to make the story more compelling. He drew heavily on the work of Joseph Campbell, notably The Hero with a Thousand Faces. His formula was so successful that he ended up writing a book, The Writer’s Journey, which is now on the must-read list of every Hollywood screenwriter.

The reason I mention it is that, while it might not be immediately obvious, the hero’s journey is extremely relevant to romance films, be they serious love stories or romantic comedies. After all, what is the classic formula “boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back” if not a hero’s journey? The story starts with desire – the strongest desire human beings ever feel – and that puts the hero or heroine on a path of testing, trials, and self-discovery as they get closer to what they really want. Pay attention the next time you watch a romance film, and you’ll see this formula at work.

Astrology is an extremely cerebral discipline. Contrary to what many people think, you have to be very bright to understand all the math involved, to grasp the nature of the various planetary energies and how they interact with each other, to keep so much information in your head, and to be able to recall it on demand and see how it applies in a given chart or situation. Of course, someone thought of writing a book called Astrology for Dummies, but the fact is, there’s no such thing, because if you’re really a dummy, you won’t get it.

And, good astrologers have to be more than just smart. We also have to have excellent intuition, because astrology is both a science and an art. The best astrologers are those rare individuals whose left and right brains are in synch.

Because we are so cerebral and so immersed in our subject, we are easily trapped into using astrology as an intellectual exercise to avoid having to actually live. The special knowledge we have of how the Universe works does not make us immune to having to feel what everyone else feels. The fact is that love is extremely scary, because it’s the one thing that forces us to face up to ourselves. Could that be why we hate the common question so much?

When a client asks me about love, my response is, “Let’s have a look at your chart.” Inside, I’m smiling, because I know that she doesn’t have a clue what she’s really asking, especially if she’s very young. But of course I don’t tell her that. She’ll figure out soon enough that anyone who is seeking true love has to go through a complete metamorphosis. Fortunately, there’s no better tool for helping the process along than astrology. The tests and trials that come in a romantic relationship ultimately have to do with the self, and astrology is incredibly efficient in this regard, because it allows the client to step outside herself and get some distance. Once her perceptions are validated, she can get out of the pit of guilt, shame, and blame that keep her stuck.

So that’s my devious plan: help people on their quest for love, and the world ultimately will be a better place.

What I really want to know, though, is when will I find true love?

Celebrating Venus through the Houses

Venus Verticordia by Rossetti Now that Venus is in Leo and yearning for the spotlight once more, I decided to do another post featuring her.

Venus is expressed differently according to the house she falls in as well as the sign, both natally and by transit. Just for the fun of it, I am going to follow her around the chart wheel looking at each house.

Venus in the First House
When Venus is in the first house, she helps improve awareness of our appearance, especially when we are going out and about in public. This placement of Venus natally seldom opens herself to fashion disasters or behaves in socially unacceptable ways. A Venus transit over the Ascendant and the first house is a good time to give attention to one’s appearance.

Venus in the Second House
Venus is very comfortable in the second house because Taurus rules the second house and Venus rules Taurus. A second house Venus is very good at knowing just what the antique from your grandmother’s attic is worth and has a knack for attracting the good things in life to her. Transits of Venus to the second house help us appreciate beautiful objects.

Venus in the Third House
Here Venus helps smooth the way by knowing just the right thing to say to your close friends and siblings. She also knows all the cozy neighborhood hangouts. If you are diplomacy challenged, wait until Venus is transiting your third house to apologize, and it will be much easier to find the right words.

Venus in the Fourth House
Walking into the home of someone who has Venus in the fourth house and feeling surrounded by comfort and beauty tells the story here. Even someone with a privacy loving Venus will make visitors feel at ease if they have Venus in the fourth or on the IC. If you have put off entertaining because you don’t enjoy it, then shoot for the time when Venus is transiting your fourth house!

Venus in the Fifth House
Leo rules the fifth house, and having a fifth house Venus says this is someone who knows how to have fun. Usually those with Venus in the fifth are invited to all the right parties, because they know how to encourage everyone to have a good time. Naturally, a transit of Venus through your fifth house is great for socializing.

Venus in the Sixth House
The sixth house Venus individual uses a pleasant manner to put others at ease and help them relax and de-stress. This is a kindly Venus and more interested in being of service to others than usual. If your life is stressed to the max and Venus is poised to transit your sixth house, make plans to visit somewhere quiet and restful during that time.
surrealistic representation of Venus
Venus in the Seventh House
You have the ability to attract pleasing and attractive partners, you lucky thing. Libra and Taurus types will find their way to you and shower you with charm and sweet words. Venus transiting the seventh house is a great time to meet potential partners, too.

Venus in the Eighth House
This is a more intense placement of Venus with overtones of Scorpio. It is possible you will inherit nice things and be fortunate in your investments or make out like a bandit in your divorce settlement. Check for eighth house Venus transits when planning to sit down with your friendly banker or investment manager.

Venus in the Ninth House
You enjoy traveling to distant lands and learning new things whether it’s by train, boat, or your armchair. It’s also possible you have quite a library of books and memorabilia from exotic locales. Naturally, a great time to travel abroad or head for your favorite sporting event is during the time Venus is transiting your ninth house.

Venus in the Tenth House
Your charming manner and willingness to play nice with others is a real bonus in your chosen career. Either that or your career revolves around being charming, attractive and pleasant. Tenth house transits of Venus are a much better time to ask for a raise than, say, a Saturn transit . . .

Venus in the Eleventh House
Here, the gracious nature of Venus helps you maintain a wide circle of friends and like-minded people. You usually enjoy taking part in group activities and promoting humanitarian causes. Have plans to host a gathering to raise money to help the rain forest? Plan the event while Venus is transiting your eleventh house for the greatest success.

Venus in the Twelfth House
As with all planetary activities in the twelfth house, Venus here is relegated to working behind the scenes. Her presence here allows you to benefit from the kindness of strangers and the occasional unknown benefactor. It takes more effort to see this subtle Venus working in your life. Not too surprisingly, Venus transiting the twelfth is a great time to go on retreat and take private time for yourself.

Of course aspects to Venus and the sign she is in will profoundly affect the way she expresses herself in your chart or by transit. When Venus is retrograde in the sky every couple of years, this usually beneficent planet can show us a very different face.

Real Astrologers Weekly Poll: Leo’s, Love ’em or Not

It’s Leo season and there is a lot more fire in the sky now with Venus already in Leo and Mercury arriving on Saturday. We all know Leo loves being appreciated so I thought a poll about them would be fun!

Online Surveys & Market Research

In honor of last week’s Full Moon we inquired about how closely you all followed the Moon.

19.4% Love to watch the Moon wax and wane but have no idea what sign it’s in.
03.2% Gardening by the Moon is my thing.
74.2% I check my ephemeris daily to track the lunar cycle.
03.2% The Full Moon makes people crazy, right?

As we’ve noticed before there are a lot of astrology buffs among our readers and these results confirm that once more. Almost two thirds of you are checking your ephemeris on a daily basis to track the Moon through the signs. This is a great tool for learning more about your chart and aspect patterns as the Moon passes over critical degrees. At least the Moon moves right along unlike certain outer planets we won’t name.

Almost all the rest who voted enjoy watching the Moon wax and wane in the sky. This is a great way to develop awareness of natural cycles and an appreciation for the stately rhythm of the planets and stars. There is nothing more beautiful than watching a Full Moon creep over the horizon in the evening sky in my opinion.

Gardening by the Moon really works so if you are an avid gardener already; do try planting by the Moon. A general rule of thumb is plant root crops during the dark of the Moon and leafy crops during the Full Moon.

The Full Moon drives me crazy ’cause it’s so hard to sleep with all that light! And lack of sleep can make a person a little loony.

Weekly Forecast July 21: Sun in Leo, Setup for Eclipses in Leo and Aquarius

Tres Riches Heures, AugustThe Sun enters his own sign of Leo this week, setting the stage for a pair of eclipses in August that will affect Leo, Aquarius, and anyone with major planets or chart points in the fixed signs.

If you’ve known a strong Leo personality, you know that they tend to be the biggest presence in the room, and they often think the world revolves around them. And to a certain degree, it does. Like planets revolving around the Sun in our solar system, we want to bask in Leo’s warmth, charm, and confidence.

Each sign of the Zodiac rules a part of the body, and Leo rules the heart, the true center of the mind. The brain is just a tool. The French word for the heart, coeur, comes from the same Latin root as core, or center. It also is the root of courage, one of my favorite words. To encourage someone means “to give heart.”

This is the special gift of Leo, and it’s a gift we can give ourselves during this special time when the Sun shines brightly in his own sign. What is truly in your heart? Who are you at the center, stripped of all the accumulated layers of programming and baggage? Is logic a support system for you, or does it rule your actions? (And are you sure about that?)

Leo is associated with the fifth house, the area of the chart associated with romance, children, and fun. In the Northern Hemisphere, August typically is a time of summer vacations, pool parties, and barbecues with friends. This week is great for all of those activities, as astrological energies are relatively calm this week – the calm before the storm for many, so take advantage while you can.

Here’s how this week shakes out:

On Tuesday, the Sun enters Leo. Later in the day, Mercury in Cancer trines the Moon and Uranus, which conjoin in Pisces. If you make an attempt to communicate from the heart, the results could surprise you. Deeper connections can form this way.

Mercury enters Leo on Friday, bringing out the prankster in those who are predisposed and maybe even some of you who normally are more reserved. Have fun!

Also on Friday, Mars trines retrograde Jupiter. With both planets in practical earth signs, this is good energy to put into strengthening your material and financial base.

As I said, pretty easy week! Not so next week, with a New Moon solar eclipse on Friday, August 1, at 9 degrees Leo. This one will be right on the Ascendant in Washington, D.C., so it’s possible that we may hear some disturbing news from the White House – well, more so than usual. Two weeks after that, on August 16, there will be a Full Moon lunar eclipse at 24 degrees Aquarius, conjunct Neptune.

As we get closer to the eclipses, I’ll have more, and Neith will provide some insight in her popular lunation reports. Stay tuned!

Love and blessings,

Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

Saturday Archives: Pluto in Synastry

I decided to continue with the Pluto theme and pulled out this post on Pluto in Synastry. Because Pluto in our charts, in synastry and by transit teaches us about control and how in the long run how little we really have, it is my opinion we can never learn too much about this small but powerful planet at the outer edges of our solar system.

pluto-and-charon-by-david-hardy.jpg

When I was asked about Pluto in synastry that question started this amazing upwelling of information . . . so here’s a big Thank You to the person who asked! In fact, there is so much coming up from the depths of my mind I may be at this for awhile . . .

First, it is necessary to remember Pluto is a major player (ignore those deluded folks who reclassified him as a dwarf planet) among the outer planets. The nature of the outer planets and the impact they have on us poor humans is profound and often difficult to discern and articulate. The only reason I’m attempting this is because Pluto by transit has conjuncted every single planet in my chart except Uranus and he opposed that. I’m sure there are a lot of other people out there who have shared this experience but as an astrologer I’m probably most compelled to use those experiences to help others understand just what the hell happened to their carefully crafted lives!

As always we need to look at how Pluto operates in our own charts first before we can look at how he works in synastry. Those of us with lots of Scorpio, loaded 8th Houses or Pluto in aspect to the personal planets and Ascendant, all have at least a starting point. My recommendation is to take note of where you are obsessing about something or someone, or having someone obsessing about you – then stop feeding energy into that. And personal experience says that is HARD sometimes! However, unless we can shine some light in those areas and apply good old fashioned common sense, we will continue to beat our heads against the wall of those obsessions. Liz Greene has written some amazing information about Pluto in her book, “The Astrology of Fate”. Reading that was very helpful for me in identifying and reducing my obsessions to a manageable level. “Manageable” is the key as the darn things are not going to disappear and blow away. So all you high-minded sorts that would prefer to remain above all that . . . not going to happen and it will only make things worse.

When it comes to relationships and Pluto we have to prepare ourselves to be an honest as possible about our motives and expectations. If a person has Pluto in the 7th House natally, they are just about guaranteed to find themselves dealing with control issues in their one-on-one relationships. Pluto/Moon aspects natally will often translate for men as seeing women as ball busting bitches, sad to say. And for women, well, that can emerge as this horrifying desire to run someone else’s life done to the tiniest detail. The way I see it these urges can end up eating up so much time and energy, there is nothing left for simply enjoying life as a couple. This is why I keep going back to the theme of getting to know, understand and accept ourselves first before running out and jumping into relationships. Being Libra, I have to say . . . on the other hand . . . there is the school of thought that says we learn by doing!

There will be much more forthcoming but for now, I’d like to pay homage to Pluto, Hades, Kali, Erishkagal and the many faces of that part of Life where something must be destroyed to make way for the possibility of renewal. By surrendering ourselves to this aspect of the cycle of being, we can open ourselves up to transformation as expressed by the Phoenix.

This is a painting done by David A. Hardy titled “Pluto and Charon” . . . simply stunning! To see more go to: http://www.solarvoyager.com/dhardy.asp

Full Moon in Capricorn, July 18, 2008

almost full . . . This Friday’s Full Moon flows naturally from the New Moon in Cancer on July 2, perhaps because Ceres is still widely conjunct the Sun, bringing her deep understanding of cycles in nature with her. Mercury conjoins Ceres, and both are opposite Jupiter in Capricorn, adding to the feeling of balance. We tend to forget that opposite signs are in complementary elements. The Full Moon is a good time to remember that.

A comfort factor in this particular Full Moon is the Moon, Cancer’s ruler, falling in Cancer’s complementary sign of Capricorn. This softens Capricorn’s stance, much as a child’s bright smiling face brings an answering one from her parent. Capricorn is far more than is often thought. It is feminine earth, and in the Northern Hemisphere, the Sun is in Capricorn during the season of dormancy, when the earth renews itself quietly for the new growing season to come when the Sun is in Cancer.

Saturn and Mars are both in Virgo, also an earth sign, emphasizing the need to take a practical, pragmatic approach to the tasks on our “to do” lists. Mars forms a harmonious trine to Jupiter in Capricorn, opening doors to concrete action for a change. Now is a good time to implement some of those bright ideas we came up with earlier in the year! Mars has moved on past Saturn now and is ready to initiate action.

Venus has moved from Cancer to Leo, and she’s looking forward to having some fun. She does form a semi-sextile with Saturn in Virgo and is square to the asteroid, Vesta. Both of these are reminders to finish your household chores and take care of other boring but important details before heading out the door to party.

There is a strong correlation between the Yod in this chart with the Sun in Cancer at the apex and Pluto in Sagittarius sextile Neptune in Aquarius as the base, and the Sabian symbols for the Moon and Sun. The themes of catharsis and upreaching are highlighted. Pluto, of course, plays a role in the catharsis and Neptune with an ascent in consciousness.

The Sabian symbol for the Sun is Cancer 27: A violent storm in a residential canyon filled with valuable homes. This is a reminder that we cannot control the uncontrollable, something anyone who has had a major Pluto transit knows. So many of us live in urban areas where we can more easily ignore nature’s changes and cycles and now is a good time to recognize the power of natural phenomena such as floods and earthquakes.

For the Moon at Capricorn 27, the Sabian symbol is:  A mountain pilgrimage. Yes, we can find an “exalted” place but we need to keep in mind that doesn’t automatically make one person better than another. It is the striving or, in other words, the process of becoming where the attention is best focused, not on the outcome.

For some, this Full Moon will bring recognition they need to take steps to make changes that they may have been contemplating for awhile. Perhaps it is time to relocate, leaving friends behind, or perhaps this will be an internal shift where an old way of thinking and being is finally outgrown and discarded. Whatever your path, walk it with grace and kindness and with purpose.

Weekly Forecast July 14: Venus in Leo, Full Moon in Capricorn

The Rokeby Venus, by Diego VelazquezThis week, we begin feeling the emphasis of Leo in preparation for next month’s eclipses.

Venus entered Leo last Saturday and this Saturday, July 19, will be opposed by the Moon in Aquarius, which will carry her energy to Neptune, Chiron, and the lunar North Node. The planet of love and beauty will have just passed the South Node at the New Moon solar eclipse on August 1. When Mars crossed the South Node last month, I wrote about reopening old wounds to let out the toxins. Now it’s up to the healing power of love to make us whole again.

Many of the popular self-help books emphasize self-love, and in my opinion a lot of it goes overboard into narcissism and the delusion of not needing others. We are all interdependent and need each other, and we need love and intimacy. But there’s no doubt that we attract healthier, more fulfilling relationships if we love ourselves. And you can’t love yourself completely until you know yourself. Luxurious baths and herbal tea are nice, but sit down with a journal and write about your deepest truth. What are you most afraid of? What gives you the most joy?

Body image is an important part of the equation, and that’s where Venus in Leo comes in. Not everyone is blessed with a movie-star figure. Actually, many celebrities aren’t even so blessed, but either know how to work with what they’ve got or resort to modern technology, some of which is way beyond the means of the rest of us.

Still, the best way to be attractive on the outside is to radiate the confidence that comes with self-knowledge and to move through life with an open heart. That is the message of Venus in Leo.

There’s also a Full Moon this week, which will mark the culmination of whatever you started two weeks ago at the New Moon. Although the Moon is in her detriment in Capricorn, the Sea Goat is a feminine sign and represents physical structure and the manifestation of disembodied energies into physical reality. Neith will have more on this Full Moon in a post on Tuesday.

Otherwise, it’s a fairly smooth week. Mercury forms a sextile to Saturn on Monday and Mars on Tuesday, helping us to apply ourselves mentally and put thoughts into practical action. Mars is separating from Saturn, putting that heavy energy behind us, and Saturn still is far enough from the opposition to Uranus that we’re not on edge yet. The Sun’s trine to Uranus on Monday is stimulating and may bring a welcome break in your beginning-of-the-week routine. It’s also a great time for self-discoveries that surprise and, hopefully, delight you.

Mercury opposes Jupiter in Capricorn on Saturday, suggesting an opportunity to see how well we’re doing with our material goals. If you’ve stretched too far beyond your limits, now is a good time to balance the books and formulate a more conservative financial strategy.

Pay attention to events this weekend, as they should provide you with a major clue regarding how next month’s eclipses will manifest in your life.

Love and blessings,
Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

Saturday Archives: Pluto’s Retrograde

Pluto entered Capricorn in January but went retrograde on April 2 and has been back in Sagittarius for the past month. Here’s a post I wrote for The Pisces Chronicles, still relevant and worth revisiting.

The Tower, from the Haindl deck
When Pluto entered Capricorn in late January, we began seeing some effects in world affairs. …

Individually, the effects have been more subtle. Those who have planets or chart angles at 1 degree Capricorn or any of the other cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, and Libra) have felt this transit the most, especially when Mars directly opposed Pluto on March 7. But all of us felt a rumble during the previous Full Moon, which squared Pluto and Mars. I had a couple of meltdowns myself, and Pluto and Mars aren’t in particularly difficult locations in my chart. Ultimately, those incidents created openings for better connections with others, but the going was turbulent there for awhile.

The dust is settling, and most of us have felt a shift. There are lots of potential reasons, astrologically, for this shift, but it feels to me like we assimilated some new energy. This is a transformational process, and anytime transformation happens, you can bet that Pluto is involved.

In the year leading up to his entry into Capricorn, Pluto conjoined the Galactic Core. During that time, many of us went through a deconstruction phase, and we also felt disoriented in space/time. Sagittarius is associated with religion, spiritual beliefs, and, ultimately, spiritual growth. The Archer aims for the truth, but an extreme manifestation of this sign is a mistaken believe that one has found Truth with a capital “T.” That’s where some of us seem to be stuck.

If nothing else, Pluto in Capricorn is sending us a clear message that beliefs have a serious impact on one’s external circumstances. In other words, there are practical implications. While changing your beliefs doesn’t guarantee that you’ll get what you want, clinging to outdated beliefs is a pretty surefire way to stay stuck in what isn’t working for you.

As Pluto turns retrograde and revisits Sagittarius from June 13 to November 26, we’ll get a chance to examine this whole process. I would especially encourage you to question where you may be operating on mistaken assumptions, as assumptions are the foundation of our belief system. You might call them the infrastructure of our personal thought matrix.

As an astrologer, I continually question the underlying assumptions of the craft, but I also try to root them out in my personal life – not an easy task, because our beliefs often are programmed into us at such an early age that we aren’t even aware that we have them. And we often continue to operate on these wrong assumptions even when presented with evidence that they’re invalid. Our mental filters are very powerful. That’s why it takes something like a heavy dose of Plutonian energy to blast them wide open.

One of the things I’ve worked on over the past several months is the belief that God, Source, Spirit, (fill in the blank) provides for us, whether through the Law of Attraction or some other mysterious mechanism, and that if we aren’t getting what we want, then we either aren’t “evolved” enough, don’t believe enough (because, after all, all you need to do is believe firmly enough), or somehow are failing to perform the rituals properly, haven’t purified enough, haven’t purged anger, hatred, jealousy, etcetera ad nauseam.

The wrong assumptions here are that failure is punishment, that a period of bad luck must be due to bad karma, consequences of past actions, choices we’ve made, and so forth. Although there does seem to be a widespread inability to accept the consequences of our actions and move on, there also seems to be an erroneous belief that we cause all of the bad things that happen to us, if not in this lifetime, then in previous incarnations.

What this erroneous belief does is to discourage failure and to make those who fail outcasts. However, failure is a means – perhaps the only means – to make new discoveries, change your life, and maybe even change the course of human history. Most scientists know this, as do entrepreneurs. Nine times out of ten, failure provides more insight and information than success, which can be so hit-or-miss that we often have no idea how it happened.

So how does one fail “successfully?” By being secure enough not to fear failure and knowing that failures, even successive ones, do not make you a failure. By understanding the role of failure in discovery and innovation. But most importantly, by being willing to give up your beliefs when they repeatedly fail to get the desired results all or at least most of the time. Too often, we take a success here and there as “proof” that our beliefs are valid, and we ignore the many incidences of their failure, which we prefer to see as anomalies.

I would love to hear from all of you about what beliefs, if any, you are questioning, and how this has impacted your life.

Love and blessings,
Aquarius, the sign of astrologyPat

Real Astrologers Weekly Poll: Mars-Saturn Conjunction

We’re wondering how everyone is handling the Mars-Saturn conjunction taking place in Virgo on July 10. Mars conjoins Saturn every two years and usually is an attention getter, especially if you have lots of Aries or Scorpio in your chart or Mars on the angles. You can find out more about it in this week’s forecast … but vote first!

Opinion Polls & Market Research

Results of Last Week’s Poll

Last week, we wanted to know how you planned to use the energy of the New Moon in Cancer. The votes are all in, and here’s how you responded:

14.3% Spending time with my family
0.0% Call my mother
14.3% Start a new health regime
0.0% Taking a luxurious bath
71.4% Take a “time out” and lie around the house doing nothing

Well, I can see that I’m definitely in the minority, but since when is that news? I was one of the few who said I was starting a new diet. It’s not exactly a diet; I’m just adding some healthy things into my daily regime to balance out all the bad habits I’ve developed on my new job, such as drinking Pepsi to keep myself going at high speed. I know, I know . . .

I did take a long, luxurious bath last Wednesday, and Jessica said she IM’d her mother! So those activities weren’t entirely lacking.

Clearly, though, most of you were ready for some serious downtime, and the New Moon in Cancer is certainly one of the best times for that. Now we know, confirmed by all of you.

Please don’t forget to vote this week. The more responses we get, the more accurate data we get. It helps us be better astrologers, too!

And remember, whenever you need personal guidance to get through planetary transits such as this troublesome Mars-Saturn conjunction, e-mail either of us, and we’ll help you decide which of our reports and forecasts is the best option for you.

Saturday Archives: Moon’s Nodes in Synastry

Because of the interest in the Moon’s nodes in synastry, I decided to pull up a post from the archives on this subject. So far the additional compatibility work I’ve done continues to support the importance of aspects to the lunar nodes. In fact, the feedback consistently suggests a karmic connection or, at the very least, a sense of familiarity and ease with each other. It is always good to know we’re on the right track!

2_of_cups.jpgOne of my regular readers asked: “Could you explain a little bit more about the south node between partners. If I’m correct my south node in Scorpio conjunct’s my partner’s Saturn, and his south node in Sag conjuncts my Saturn & Mercury. Typically the south node scares me, Lol. Should I be worried?”

As with everything is astrology, the answer is particular to these two individuals. Yes, I know . . . “That’s an Answer?!”

I will start by taking a quick look at their personal planet synastry. She’s a very Sagittarius Sun person with Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Uranus and Ascendant in Sagittarius. Her Moon is in Aquarius and all this equals a spontaneous, outgoing, forward looking individual. Her partner has his Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius. Right away we see these two not only have Suns trine but Moons conjoined – very compatible. They do have Mercury square with hers in Sagittarius and his in Virgo. However these are Mutable signs and though there may be differences in their approach to problem solving and expression, they may enjoy these occasionally heated discussions. We are talking two Fire sign Suns here!

They have good chemistry with her Mars in Scorpio sextile his Venus in Virgo, and his Mars in Scorpio semi-sextile her Venus in Sagittarius. Note that both have Mars in Scorpio and from the perspective of a person who shares this aspect with her S/O, I see this is a real plus!

The Saturn/South Node aspects go like this . . . her Saturn/Mercury are conjoined with his South Node/Vertex and her South Node/Pluto is conjoined with his Saturn. Naturally she went “whoa!” Yes, that set of aspects looks like there is a deep need for these two to be together, karmic as it were.

I offered to take a look at their composite chart which is a chart of the relationship to see what it had to say. They have a great composite chart that emphasizes the partnership aspect of the relationship between them. The Sun, Mercury, Venus are conjoined in Libra in the 7th House trine the Moon in Aquarius in the 11th House. This is wonderful combination and has genuine partners written all over it. Saturn is square to the Moon in the composite and it’s possible this aspect brings stability and grounding to all the Fire & Air energy. Neptune forms an out-of-sign sextile to Venus and the Moon adding a touch of romantic overtones.

If the relationship is working fine, then go with the flow for now . . . both people are in their early twenties and my guess is that with Saturn involved, it’s when they reach their first Saturn return, more information and issues will arise and can be dealt with then. There is an old saying . . . “don’t go borrowing trouble”! Enjoying the “now” never hurts. :-)

The Two of Cups is the card for the first stages in a partnership, when all is fresh and new.
